The 7th Annual Mosaic International Film Festival of Arts and Culture is scheduled to take place on October 30, and we are excited to once again bring filmmakers, artists, audiences, industry professionals, and members of our community together for another celebration of storytelling, creativity, and culture through film.
The venue for this year’s festival is currently being finalized, and we look forward to sharing those details soon. As preparations continue, our team is working to create an engaging and memorable festival experience that reflects the vision we have carefully built over the past seven years.
Since its inception, the Mosaic International Film Festival of Arts and Culture has been about much more than screening films. We have intentionally built a brand and a platform that gives filmmakers—both locally and internationally—an opportunity to tell their stories, showcase their creativity, and connect with audiences through the powerful art of filmmaking.
At the heart of the festival is a simple belief: every story deserves an opportunity to be told.
Film has a unique ability to introduce us to people, places, cultures, and experiences that may be different from our own. It can challenge perspectives, create conversations, preserve history, celebrate identity, and help us better understand the world around us. Mosaic was created to provide a space where those stories can be shared freely and creatively.
Over the past seven years, we have watched that vision grow.
What began as an idea to create a more diverse and accessible platform for filmmakers has developed into an international festival that continues to attract submissions from around the world. To date, Mosaic has received film submissions representing more than 30 countries, demonstrating both the global reach of the festival and the universal power of storytelling.
Each submission brings something different to the festival. Some filmmakers explore identity, migration, family, culture, and belonging. Others examine social issues, relationships, history, community, or the complexities of everyday life. We receive stories that make audiences laugh, stories that challenge us to think differently, and stories that introduce perspectives that might otherwise remain unseen.
That diversity of voices is what makes Mosaic special.
While we are proud of the festival’s growing international presence, we remain equally committed to providing opportunities for filmmakers from our local and regional communities. Creating a platform where emerging filmmakers can have their work presented alongside filmmakers from other parts of Canada and around the world creates opportunities for connection, learning, collaboration, and exposure.
For independent and emerging filmmakers in particular, access to platforms matters. Creating a film requires courage, creativity, resources, persistence, and an enormous amount of work. Behind every finished production are individuals who have invested their ideas, time, talent, and often their personal resources into bringing a story to life.
Mosaic recognizes that commitment.
Our goal is to create an environment where filmmakers feel that their work is respected, their creativity is celebrated, and their voices matter. Whether a filmmaker is presenting their first project or has spent years developing their craft, the festival provides an opportunity to share that work with a broader audience.
The word “Mosaic” continues to represent the spirit of what we are building. A mosaic is made up of individual pieces, each with its own colour, shape, and character. Individually, those pieces are distinct; together, they create something larger and more powerful.
That is how we see our festival.
Every filmmaker brings a different perspective. Every culture contributes something unique. Every story adds another piece to a larger picture of who we are as people and as communities.
As we prepare for our seventh year, we are proud of how far the festival has come, but we are even more excited about where it can go next. We want to continue expanding opportunities for filmmakers, strengthening international connections, supporting emerging talent, and creating meaningful experiences for audiences.
The continued growth in international submissions reinforces our belief that there is a strong appetite for platforms that embrace diverse perspectives and allow filmmakers to tell authentic stories without losing the uniqueness of their voices.
This year’s festival will continue that tradition.
On October 30, we look forward to welcoming our community back for another opportunity to discover new films, experience different perspectives, celebrate filmmakers, and connect through storytelling.
More information about the official venue, selected films, programming, participating filmmakers, and other festival activities will be announced as we get closer to the event.
We invite filmmakers, film lovers, artists, community members, partners, and supporters to stay connected as we prepare for the 7th Annual Mosaic International Film Festival of Arts and Culture.
Seven years later, our purpose remains clear: to create a platform where stories cross borders, cultures are celebrated, filmmakers are empowered, and audiences are invited to experience the world through someone else’s lens.
The stories continue. The community continues to grow. And the Mosaic continues to take shape.Stay tuned for more details as we count down to October 30.
