Our Guest Is: Patrick Sullivan - Leading Atlantic Canada's Future

Patrick Sullivan is currently a Strategic Business Advisor with Cox and Palmer, a leading Atlantic Canadian law firm, and was most recently the President and CEO of the Halifax Chamber of Commerce. He led the Chamber in representing over 2,000 member businesses in the HRM. He met with all levels of government regularly to advocate on behalf of businesses and continuously improved membership offerings to support the business community.

In March 2020, in response to the pandemic, Mr. Sullivan created and Chaired the Nova Scotia Business and Labour Economic Coalition to become a point of contact for government as they made rapid decisions, to advocate for business and their employees during this challenging time, to ensure all Nova Scotians were heard and supported, and to assist in the development of a recovery plan. The group represented over 5,000 organizations and over 200,000 people in the workforce in Nova Scotia.

A passionate advocate for blending business and community, Mr. Sullivan sits on several boards: the Advisory Board for the Faculty of Management at Dalhousie University, the Bluenose Marathon Board of Directors and was most recently Chair of the TELUS Atlantic Community Board. Patrick and his wife have raised four CNIB guide dog puppies of which two went on to become guide dogs.

He began his career at Procter and Gamble and has held several senior positions in marketing and general management at Moosehead Breweries Ltd., The Upper Canada Brewing Company, Indigo.ca, Workopolis.com and the Nova Scotia Tourism Agency.

Mr. Sullivan enjoys running and has run half/marathons, marathons and in October of 2011 completed a 250km run across the Sahara Desert. This run helped raise over $100,000 for the National Advertising Benevolent Association or NABS. He is a proud MSVU alumni with a Bachelor of Business Administration.
